When we think about a group of Good Samaritans coming to the rescue of a friendly pup who hurt his paws on the jagged mountain areas at Mount Jefferson in New Hampshire, we just can’t thank these awesome rescuers enough for their kindness and fortitude.

Mount Jefferson is the third-highest mountain in New Hampshire and a popular area for hiking.

According to WmurNews, the dog Bruno has accompanied his humans on a mountain hike when his paw pads ripped apart by the hot, rugged terrain. During the hike, his owners were reported to have run out of food and water and forced to spend the night up on the mountain with no shelter.

Online posts drew the attention of a group of 15 Good Samaritans who found the hikers, but when they arrived, Bruno was in no condition to make his way back down the mountain. A harness was used to carry the dog, and one of the men, named Zippy, picked up the dog and put him on his back because the path was so narrow.

When the path widened, the rescuers took turns and carried Bruno for the next two-and-a-half miles in the sling. The entire effort took 16 hours. Bruno was very cooperative during the rescue and knew these new people in his life were just there to help him.

Bruno is reported to be on his way to a complete recovery. Please, if you’re going to hike with your dog, make sure to anticipate the unexpected.
