Wildlife officials in Washington state have killed a mother bear and her cubs because they became too comfortable with people. As reported by KOMO News, the adult black bear, and her three cubs, frequently foraged around residential properties in North Bend, and officials were concerned that the bears had become a danger to people.

According to residents and Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife officials, the bears got into trash that was put outside, broke into a home while searching for food, and even entered a parked van.

North Bend is nestled in the shadow of Mt. Si and homes have been built in areas that once belonged exclusively to wildlife.
