It was a Thanksgiving tweet from Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center in New Jersey that brought the saddest face of a frowning feline to the forefront of “hey adopt me” via the magic of social media.

He is very sad and depressed and will only eat when he has company.

The five year old domestic short hair and bengal kitty mix gets along with other cats, but oh that face and those sad, sad eyes. Check out his description:

Meet Fishtopher

Fishtopher is not a fish out of water, but he is out of sorts at the shelter. He is very sad and depressed and will only eat when he has company. Five year old Fishtopher was found as a stray, maybe he is missing his family. Fishtopher reminds you of a Bengal with his cool coloring. He is a sweet, easy-going, laid-back boy. Fishtopher loves being pet, and is an affectionate boy. He wouldn’t even look up for pictures, but did enjoy his one on one attention, and getting chin rubs. Fishtopher is a big cheeky boy, wouldn’t you love rubbing up on those big cheeks? He loves cuddling up in arms, it seems to make him feel secure. We feel that Fishtopher would do best in a more quiet home. Please come rescue our big loveable boy!

It happened to have been that magical tweet from Molly Clarke that benefited Fishtopher; before he could even wake up from his afternoon nap. more than 169,000 likes and lots of interest made the cat famous.

Over the weekend, the shelter said in a Facebook post it had received “hundreds of inquiries” about Fishtopher. Deciding they would be able to make the perfect humans for Fishtopher, on Saturday morning, Laura Folts and her partner Tanner Callahan drove two hours from Baltimore to Blackwood, New Jersey to adopt the adorable kitty. They arrived early – good thing – there were other families arriving shortly after offering to adopt the saddest looking kitty.

And guess what? Yep, Fishtopher now has his own Twitter and Instagram accounts. How cute is that?
