A rescue group in Las Vegas, Nevada, is hoping that someone will open their home to an 18-year-old dog who lost his family last year. The pit bull mix, named Kane, will have his medical needs sponsored by KISS MY PAWS rescue.

Those who know him report that he is an “incredibly friendly and loving” dog, who has sight impairments and is almost deaf. Kane gets along with other dogs, but not cats. He is housetrained and takes treats gently.

A social media post made about Kane on May 10 states:

This sweet 63 pound bully mix loves to go on a leisurely walk or just lay around with his people. Kane is great with other dogs- he takes lots of clues from his bully breed foster sister- but is NOT great with cats. Because of his impaired vision, he is very responsive to their motion and wants to give chase. He’ll chase the little dogs, too, until he realizes that they are indeed canines and not felines, at which point he calms down immediately and just wants to say “hello”.
Kane only has vison in one eye, and he is just about deaf, but he gets around just fine. He has been in his temporary foster home for a week and already knows where everything is. He is settling in and his anxiety has already diminished. Sadly, however, with four cats in the household, it is not a fit for Kane. He needs a kitty-free home, or a two story home in which the kitties usually hang upstairs.

On May 26, the Forgotten Dogs Animal Rescue wrote of the urgency of this situation:

Senior citizen Kane is still searching for his forever foster family. In cooperation with Kiss My Paws Rescue, one of our volunteers is fostering Kane, but sadly, as much as she loves him, she cannot get Kane to stop chasing kitties. Kane is great with dogs and kids, but should not go to a home in which there are cats. This easy, gentle, slow moving boy should be easy to place… so why was Kane in boarding for seven months? Kane’s age (and maybe his breed?) have been impeding his search for a family of his own. PLEASE open your heart to Kane for as long as he has left.
