Naples, FL – The Florida man who gained nationwide attention after braving the hurricane Ian-driven storm surge to save a stranded cat has just shown himself to be an animal hero once again. Mike Ross, and his girlfriend Megan Scavo, created a GoFundMe fundraiser to help those impacted by the hurricane and because of their efforts, thousands of dollars were raised.

On Sept. 29, Scavo had Tweeted:

We are starting a gofundme to help restore our home and others’ homes that were damaged by #HurricaneIan. We are donating half of the proceeds to the Humane Society Naples in honor of our miracle cat, Ian.

On Wednesday, Ross and Scavo were able to present a check for $14,570 to the Naples Humane Society from the funds raised online, reports NBC 2.

And in the happiest of endings possible, the cat who was rescued from the hurricane found his forever home with the compassionate couple that helped save his life.
