Bristol, Indiana – A man has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of torturing or mutilating an animal that stemmed from his killing of a six-month-old puppy in January. The puppy, a German shepherd who acted as an emotional support animal to a child, was hung from a tree and stabbed by two men; 34-year-old Uriah Kling, who pleaded guilty, and Tyler Tallman, who is “on the run.”

The fatal attack on the puppy stemmed from a nipping incident involving Kling’s year-old son. Kling has since admitted that he “overreacted” to the nip and his attorney has said that the man is “accepting responsibility” for his part in what happened to the young dog, reports WNDU News.

Kling will be sentenced on October 3 – he could face up to two years behind bars. A warrant for Tallman was issued in May.
