A dog died not long after being found tied to a pole outside of a McDonald’s in Branford, Connecticut. According to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, good Samaritans found the dog and brought her to the facility for help. On Monday, the animal welfare agency wrote:

Yesterday as we were getting ready to leave the animal shelter to go to our event at Ballous on the Guilford Green, people walked in with a dog in this bin stating that she was tied to the pole at McDonalds in Branford.
We reached in to pull the little one out of the bin and realized very quickly that she could not stand or walk.

An animal control officer rushed the grievously injured pup to Pieper Memorial Vet Hospital in Middletown where it was determined that her injuries were “beyond repair.” The dog’s owners were found and they were able to be with her when she passed. The shelter explained:

The dogs injuries are beyond repair and the owners are with the dog at this time to say goodbye. This is certainly not the ending we were hoping for . But we are glad that she can be with her family in her final hours 😢

The shelter is investigating to see who left the dog tied up to the pole. They write:

it appears the dog may have been hit by a car in Bridgeport because that’s where she went missing from and someone transported the dog to Branford. If anyone knows who initially picked up this dog please call us at 203-315-4125. We will be conducting an investigation of our own to try to see if any cameras or any witnesses saw someone leaving a dg by McDonalds.
