Charleston, SC – The Charleston Animal Society is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever abandoned a dog with “grave injuries” earlier this week. The animal welfare agency said that the dog was found in a crate that was left at 1385 Ashley River Road, at the Palmilla Apartments, on Tuesday.

In a news release, the organization said that the pup was found by a Charleston police officer and rushed to an emergency veterinarian for care. The agency said:

He was stabilized and transferred to Charleston Animal Society. This young puppy is suffering from second and third degree burns of an unknown source.

Adding:

Our team worked tirelessly on him today and he is receiving pain management and IV fluids. His condition and prognosis is guarded and he will be cared for throughout the holiday by the emergency vet.
