An animal cruelty investigation is underway in Tennessee following a particularly horrific discovery in Chattanooga. As reported by WRBCTV News, a German shepherd was found dead in a puddle near the corner of North Hawthorne and Olive Street.
A woman named Dana Ramby was made aware of the dog’s body by a member of her family – when she went to investigate, she found the dog’s head in water, with multiple cords around her neck. She tells the news agency:
The dog’s head was in about two inches of water and I realized there were multiple zip ties around this dog’s neck, some kind of cord or rope.”
Officials determined that the cords around her neck were electrical cords. The dog was a stray who frequented the area – she was referred to as “sweet girl.” Ramby tells WRBCTV:
“She never seemed to be bothering anybody, I don’t understand why someone would take her life.”
McKamey’s Animal Services is hoping to find the person responsible for the cruel act. A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the person responsible.
If anyone knows something about this incident, they are asked to contact McKamey at 423-305-6515.
