Nearly 100 dogs and puppies have been rescued from an unlicensed breeder in Urbana, Missouri. On Tuesday, the Humane Society of Missouri alerted Facebook followers to the massive rescue effort, writing:
Our Animal Cruelty Task Force just arrived at our Macklind location with 97 dogs, including many puppies as young as 10-weeks-old. The rescue was coordinated with the Missouri Department of Agriculture and the Missouri Attorney General’s office.
The formerly licensed breeder, operating as Cridder Creek Kennel and later Little Miracles Kennel in Hickory County, has been ordered to close. The rescue breeds include Collies, Standard Poodles, Shelties, Yorkies and others. The ages and conditions of the dogs differ greatly.
Ella Frank with the Humane Society of Missouri tells KMOV 4 News:
“They were living in small kennels, they didn’t have room to run, they didn’t have room to play, some of them didn’t have access to daylight.”
The shelter is desperately in need of sheets, blankets, towels, small dog beds and newspaper. Residents who live in the area are asked to drop items off at the shelter which is located at 1201 Macklind Avenue St. Louis, MO.
