Puppy found with ears sliced off

Police found puppy with ears sliced off and glued to head

Police in Greenville, North Carolina, announced the arrest of a man who is suspected of slicing off a puppy’s ears. According to a release by the NC Police Animal Protective Services, it appeared that the puppy’s ears were sliced off by scissors or another type of sharp object, and then “superglued to his temples.”

The news release reads:

On January 29, 2020, the Greenville Police Department’s Gang Unit was executing a search warrant at 206 W. Gum Street when they located a puppy that looked as though his ears had been cut off with a pair of scissors or other sharp instrument. The dog was seized and immediately taken to the emergency vet. Upon an examination, the vet stated it looked as though the dog’s ears were superglued to his temples after they were cut.

The man arrested for this cruel act is Tony Lopez, the puppy’s owner. He is charged with one count of Felony Cruelty to Animals and was arrested on February 3, 2020.

The puppy is receiving care from animal services.
