Man fights 13-foot gator to save rescue pup from being killed

A Florida man risked his own life this week to save his rescue pup from being killed by a 13-foot gator. As reported by Fox 59 News, Trent Tweddale wrestled the alligator on Monday after it got hold of his dog, Loki, in a rain-swollen river on his property in Pasco County.

Tweddale told the news agency:

The dog had his front paws in the river here that swelled after all the rain, and the dog was attacked by a gator,”

Explaining how he ultimately saved his six-year-old dog’s life:

I grabbed the dog’s collar to try to pull him back, and I ended up in a tug-of-war match with this gator, and the gator was not letting go,” he said. “So I let go of the collar, and I got about knee-deep into the water and started pounding on the gator’s head until he eventually let go.”

Loki nearly lost his leg in the ordeal, but he is alive thanks to his owner’s quick response to the life-or-death situation. Now Tweddale hopes to capture the gator that nearly killed his pup. He tells the news agency,

“We love our dog a lot and I’d fight tooth and nail for him.”
