A 21-year-old woman was shot and killed and her boyfriend injured on Wednesday near Coors Field in Denver over an argument about the woman’s dog pooping.
According to the NYPost, Michael Close, 36, has been arrested in connection to the shooting. A GoFundMe page has identified the victim as Isabella Thallas. Her boyfriend, Darian Simon,26, was shot twice but is expected to make a full recovery.
“On June 10, 2020, Isabella Thallas and her boyfriend, Darian Simon, were taking their dog for a lunch time walk in downtown Denver. When a resident, Michael Close, shot at both Isabella and Darian. Darian is in the hospital with a gunshot wound. Isabella, who just celebrated her 21st birthday earlier this week has passed.”
According to authorities, Simon had been walking his dog with Thallas when he told the dog to poop. He then heard someone yelling from an apartment asking if they were going to train the dog or just yell at it. Simon told Denver Police he tried to ignore Close, but they saw him point a gun and shoot; Thallas died at the scene.
“Are you going to train the dog or just yell at it?,” Close asked.
Close did try to flee but was apprehended by police. An AR-15 rifle and a handgun as well as a gun belt and gun magazines were found in his vehicle. Close has no prior record and remains in Denver jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Why just why? Rest in peace Isabella Thallas.
The family is hoping to convert the area where their daughter was killed into a dog park to help remember her legacy.
