At the Shelby County Animal Shelter in Indiana, the compassionate staff and volunteers  are hoping Foxy will find the right home; the male German shepherd/Chow Chow mix had been adopted, however that lasted only six days.

“Foxy was brought back. What we learned during their six-day adoption is that he only had one accident in the house, lived with a small dog and was fine and ran the house while they were gone (no destruction). Those are all positives that we didn’t know. There were no children present. The reason he was returned is because he is still acting skittish and scared. Foxy needs time. If someone has the patience and time to let him come around, we would love for you to come and meet him,” the shelter posted on their Facebook page Friday afternoon.

Foxy had been an owner surrender less than two weeks ago. His owner moved and couldn’t take him; neighbors had been concerned that Foxy had been left outside with no one around. His family tried to find someone to adopt him, but finally decided to surrender him to the shelter. Foxy had shown up at their home three years prior as a stray, and the family kept him, however Foxy had only been an outdoor dog.

On the positive side, Foxy lived with another dog and did fine – he has never been around cats.

“We had also gotten calls on his wound, the owner states that he didn’t shave it, but he wasn’t sure what had happened. Foxy always has the same worried expression on his precious face. He also has no leash skills so we carry him outside while his legs are stiff and his toes are spread. Yes, he is stressed but once outside goes to the bathroom (he is just realizing that he can do that in his outside kennel), then he wants back in. Not even chicken breast coaxed the dog to eat the first two days he was here. He is now eating and moving around his kennel. Before he just leaned up in the corner. So sad, his whole world has been turned upside down, but we hope it doesn’t take him long that he is at an animal shelter that cares.”

Foxy did live with three children – ages 18, 9 and three.   He also has never been to a vet even though it is state law that a pet is current on the rabies vaccination. Foxy needs a special person who will give him the patience, love and time he needs.

Since his photos have been posted on social media, there have been numerous offers to adopt him, but Foxy is still at the shelter.
