A dog is recovering from a gunshot wound following his heroic effort to save his owner from two armed robbers in West Philadelphia. As reported by ABC 6 News, Billy, a bull terrier, was with his owner, Felipe Sinisterra, when two men approached them at the intersection of South 48th Street and Osage Avenue.
When Billy barked at the men, he was shot in the chest. The men ran, but Billy was left with severe injuries requiring surgery to save his life. Through the help of a GoFundMe campaign, thousands of dollars have been raised to get the brave dog the veterinary care that he needs to survive.
According to the news agency, the police are searching for the two suspects, who fled in a gray Honda.
