Wound dog with matted fur and maggots found

What happened? Senior dog found wounded, matted and covered in maggots

On September 11, a stunning, albeit badly neglected, senior dog was taken in at the Los Angeles County Animal Care facility in Downey, California. The husky, dubbed Eddie, was found with badly matted fur, maggots, and injuries – possibly from being hit by a car.

What happened? How did this senior dog fall into such pitiful condition?  Was he lost? Abandoned? Or did he live outside in dismal conditions and he just broke free? The questions may never be answered.

Right now, Eddie is being held on a stray hold because he has a microchip. An advocate writes:

This deserving stunner
Came in wounded
With mats of hair, with maggots, and possibly hit by a car.

Staff shaved him and cleaned the maggots and the matted hair
Staff treated him for Fly strike…dermatitis…
And he was a good boy letting them fix him up.
So he is on the mends and will be
looking a hundred percent again.

he is gorgeous and stopped me in my tracks when I first saw him, he is so special
He was friendly and social and came up to me.
My guess is, he has been lost for awhile on the streets.
I don’t think Anyone is coming..
But to give his owners a chance to find him, he can not leave until 9/23 after micro chip hold
Please share for a forever home.

Will you help this senior dog by sharing his story? Either he is missing and has a family out there looking for him, or he has been cast aside and needs someone to take him in. Either way, he needs networking to help him get where he needs to be.
