In Coachella, California, a heartless culprit discarded a three-week-old puppy in a plastic Walmart bag on Thursday, and then threw her into the trash. Someone rummaging through the trash heard the puppy’s helpless cries and rushed her to a local store where emergency help was summoned.
The Animal Hope & Wellness Foundation are asking for the public’s help identifying the person who abandoned this puppy; the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible has been increased to $20,000. Actress Shannen Doherty contributed $5,000 to the reward.
“People who do these types of things to animals go on to hurt women and children and need to be held responsible,” Doherty stated.
Fashion model Joanna Krupa also added $5,000 to the reward in an effort to bring about justice.
According to the rescue organization, the puppy, now dubbed Hope, appeared as if she had been burned with a caustic substance, is missing part of her tail and is unable to walk as a result of having been beaten and assaulted. She was tied into a plastic Walmart bag and thrown into a dumpster in the parking lot of the shopping center at 49849 Harrison Street in Coachella.
Hope is currently in an intensive care at a veterinary hospital receiving 24-hour monitoring.

It is not known if Hope will ever be able to walk again, but the owner of McGrath Veterinary is confident the puppy will pull through and survive. The dumpster where Hope was found is just two blocks away from where seven puppies were dumped just a few weeks prior.
