The rotting body of a dog was discovered in a cage at the San Antonio, Texas, home of a man who “went away for work.” On Saturday, police arrested 30-year-old Jose Torres-Vidaurri for the death of a dog, described as a black terrier, who was discovered inside of a wire cage in his apartment, reports KSAT News.
Torres-Vidaurri told the authorities that someone was supposed to be caring for the dog while he was away at work, but he was unable to provide information about that person to the police. The police were tipped off to the dead dog’s presence after a resident complained of a foul odor coming from the unit the Fredericksburg Place Apartments- a maintenance worker made the grim discovery.
Management at the apartment complex told the authorities that Torres-Vidaurri was last seen at his residence on March 18 – by the time that the dog was found on March 25, the body was so badly decomposed that a necropsy was unable to be performed.
