Animal control officers responding to a call about a case of possible animal cruelty were met with an unexpectedly cruel situation. According to multiple sources, a 78-year-old man in Lapeer County, Michigan, went into his home on the 5300 block of Otter Lake Road, retrieved a gun, and shot his tethered dogs while the officers looked on.
The bizarre and cruel situation
The bizarre and decidedly cruel situation took place on Thursday afternoon. The dogs, who were chained to dog houses, were killed as the officers looked on. The elderly man then refused to put down his weapon, so a deputy was called to the scene. The man told the deputy to shoot him…but eventually the accused dog killer was apprehended after being zapped with a stun gun, reports WNDU News.
The authorities seized several weapons and 10 malnourished puppies from the man’s residence – the man, who has not been identified, may face charges.
