On March 1, a woman in West Palm Beach, Florida, was arrested for allegedly abandoning dogs after she was evicted from her home. According to WPTV News, Antonette Washington left behind two five-month-old puppies, Bam Bam and Sugar Bear. One of the young dogs was in such poor condition by the time that he was found that he was little more than skin and bones.
The puppies were removed from the backyard of a residence on the 5600 block of Parker Ave; they were eventually surrendered by Washington to the Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control.
Washington’s animal cruelty charge was recently upgrade to felony status, she is also facing two counts for unlawful abandonment. Washington was arrested at the start of the month and was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. Washington has already been released on bond.
The puppies have since recovered from the neglect – Sugar Bear has been adopted into a new home and Bam Bam was taken in by a rescue organization.
