A 39-year-old man in Cossayuna, New York, is facing a charge of felony animal cruelty for allegedly killing a dog with an ax. According to Friday’s News 10, the accused dog killer has been identified as Jason C. Jenkins of 181 Kilburn Road.
According to multiple sources, the dog that Jenkins slayed was a four-year-old mixed breed who belonged to a relative. There is no reason given for the cruel act which claimed the dog’s life.
The Times Union reported that Jenkins was staying with family in Hoosick Falls when he attacked the family dog with an ax – the dog was killed after blows to the head and neck. Authorities discovered the dog’s body in a freshly dug grave site in the backyard of the Hoosick Falls residence while investigating an unrelated incident in early August. The dog’s body was sent away to Cornell University to undergo a necropsy.
Jenkins was arrested and booked into the Rensselaer County jail – according to the Post Star, online records indicate that Jenkins has already been released from custody.
