A homeless dog in Long Island, New York, is mourning the loss of her brother, who recently found a forever home. Kloe, a two-year-old Labrador retriever mix, arrived to the Brookhaven Shelter with her brother – both came to the facility as strays.
Though the shelter staff tried to find a home where the bonded dogs could live together, nobody wanted them as a pair. Kloe’s sibling left for a new life…she has been left behind, waiting, and wondering what happened to her friend.
On July 31, the Desperate Dogs of Long Island Facebook page created a post for Kloe – the following information has been shared about the type of home situation this young dog should be well in:
Kloe would do well with another dog to help her transition into a new home without her brother, and as she has never lived with small children, a home with older children or adults would be best. Housebroken, spayed and up to date on vaccinations, she’s a great dog with a wonderful personality – and all she needs is love.
Please help share Kloe’s adoption information – she deserves the same happily-ever-after that her brother has already been blessed with.

How sad
If I saw two bonded siblings like this, I honestly don’t think I could take just one of them. I’m so sorry Kloe, I hope you find your forever home soon with another brother to share your life with.
This is just heart breaking. I could never separate a bonded pair.
nor could I…
I’m with you on that…I took in a feral pregnant cat…had kittens the same night I brought her home…I couldn’t even get rid of them….so now I have 6 cats….lol…I don’t know how people do it (give up their pets..just heartless I guess)
I sure hope someone will give this little girl a second chance as she so deserves it!!! To stand and watch her brother lease is just so HEARTBREAKING!
Heartbreaking! Prayers for this beautiful pup to find her furever home!!
Does she get along with cats
i hope he finds a good home soon also.
Do you allow adoption out of state?
Absolutely heart breaking… How could the new owners do this?! :'(
My heart breaks for this girl ~ I don’t understand how anyone could separate them…. :'(
How could anyone seperate these two or allow it really pisses me off. Hope the pup finds a new loving family soon. How sad…..
How can you do that? They are a bonded pair!!! Have a heart! Go back and get him…it`s only right!

Hopefully time will heal her broken sprit and heart! At least she is safe from being “Put down” I hope for a loving and compassionate family for each of them!!! Thanks for letting is know she is safe
I so want to adopt this angel! I have a 9 yr old lab, Miss LuLu, and I’m retired & have a hole in my heart from my 14 yr old lab, Gretals, who passed away last month.
Poor dog… how can I go about adopting her?
