A swan apparently died of a broken heart after teenage vandals destroyed her nest and eggs along the shore of the Manchester Canal by Kearsley, reports LancsLive News.
The horrifyingly cruel incident took place in late May when teens were spotted hurling eggs at the swan’s nest and eggs. In the weeks that followed, the mother swan’s mate abandoned her and then, the mother apparently lost her will to live and died.
Sam Woodrow, a wildlife activist, said:
“There’s not much I can say really. She probably died of a broken heart as she had a partner for life and he was driven away by stress.”
Another advocate reported that the swan had been harassed by dogs and ducks and the stress appeared to have finally become too much. She was found “slumped” over in her nest.

This is sad beyond words……. the swan’s mate will probably die of a broken heart as well…… it’s tragic for that entire swan family….. who is raising these POS creeps who think they have the right to kill wildlife??? I hope they are found and sent to jail for a very long time……. The POSs who murdered these precious swans are pure evil!!!!!!!! Lock these POSs up and lose the keys!!!!! Should only leave prison in a pine box (& that is way too good for them)……. They will burn in the hottest part of Hell forever for their cruelty……. They can’t get to Hell fast enough………
I agree 100% with you. Unfortunately, in most places throughout the world, animals lives are not worth a murder conviction. You would think by now, something would have changed legally speaking. Many have fought to change the laws to protect animals and give them rights. Stories like these are so heartbreaking! How can anyone be so cruel and think that this is funny?
