If you are familiar with German shepherds, you know that they are emotional, intelligent dogs who are devoted to their families. Sadly, the same traits which make them phenomenal companions often equates to poor behavior at an animal control kennel.
Meet Lucy
Lucy, a young German shepherd, is a prime example of a shepherd who does not show well at the shelter. Lucy can sense that she is somewhere that she shouldn’t be and her behavior at the Baldwin Park animal shelter shows it.
An advocate wrote:
She does not show well in her kennel where she sits cowering and afraid after all she is a one year old that is very smart and sensitive.
The real Lucy
The real Lucy is revealed when she exits her kennel run and joins other dogs outside. Her advocate wrote:
After being coaxed out of her kennel and entering the playgroup for the first time she strutted her stuff becoming an entirely different pet. She is gregarious and social a fun loving gal that will make a loving companion in her forever home. She gets along great with other dogs making friends easily.
Helping this young shepherd
Lucy needs to find a home – she has been at this busy California animal shelter for over a month and she needs to be adopted or rescued. Lucy would thrive in an active home, with an owner who is familiar with shepherds. You can help Lucy find her person by taking a moment to share this article with her adoption information.

Sharing with love and prayers for her life and freedom. So pretty.
What a beautiful dog. I hope the G.S. rescue groups see her and take her into their care. Very intelligent breed and this girl looks so sweet. Someone go see her and take her for a walk. Hope someone fosters or adopts her and they will have a wonderful life with a wonderful dog.
