Precious and Muffin have each other. Every morning they wake up at the Healthy Hearts and Paws Project, and side by side they eat their breakfast together.

Precious and Muffin arrived at the animal welfare organization a few months ago, and yes, they did have an owner. Sadly, keeping them safe was not a priority for their owner, and after showing up at the shelter multiple times, their last visit ended with being surrendered.

Another morning… having their breakfast together. Side by side, and through it all … the two have remained incredibly sweet. They love being walked together; there is never any fuss. They don’t complain, they don’t pull and there they are, just two gentle souls happily heading to the play yard.
Through it all?
They have remained incredibly sweet.

These two girls can be walked together by the shelter volunteers with zero chaos; no pulling, no craziness, just two gentle souls happily heading to the play yard. Both are grateful for the attention and the gentle pats and scratches.

The girls keep their kennel quite clean, and share their space with no drama.
But let’s get realistic. Precious and Muffin are tired of being in a kennel, and they are tired of living at a rescue.
Here’s what we can report:
They do not seem bothered by other dogs.
No cats at this time
Older children are preferred
A fenced in yard would be great
How about a family who will choose them and keep them safe.
Just recently, the girls did have an adoption application. Everyone was so excited for them, and thought for sure, this was going to be their moment. Everyone pictured them leaving together with their tails wagging and ready to settle into their loving homes.
Sadly, there still was no happy ending. When the potential adopters arrived to meet them, they decided it was not the right fit. It was a heartbreaking moment for the staff and for Precious and Muffin. They had felt the excitement, but then they also felt the letdown as the family walked away.
…that just means it wasn’t their people.
Because their people are out there.
The right home. The right hearts. The ones who will see them and just know.
Please share their story with friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
Tonight, they’ll fall asleep together again — but we’re hoping tomorrow is the day they wake up to good news.
