Just imagine getting ready to take a refreshing plunge into your pool during this heatwave, but as you step outdoors into your backyard, you spot a curious creature soaking up the sunshine?

According to the Pittsburgh Animal Care & Control, along with the Mt. Oliver Police Department, a Mount Oliver resident was taken by surprise after spotting the albino boa constrictor relaxing on the deck.

Initially, the homeowner thought it was a pool noodle wedged between the deck and pool and tried grabbing it. Imagine his chagrin?

Animal Care and Control officers responded to the 310 block of Church Avenue, where they found the boa constrictor lazily lounging on the raised pool deck.

The snake was safely transported to the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, where it’s receiving proper care.

While it is legal to own a boa constrictor in Pennsylvania, owners are responsible for ensuring their pets are securely contained. Escaped animals can hurt themselves, other pets, and even native wildlife.
