In Atlanta, Georgia a disabled Army veteran’s service dog was found deceased near Interstate 285. Kerrie Porter is legally blind, had served two terms in Iraq and had recently been paired with the brown Standard Poodle named Bruno.
Bruno had been helping Kerrie deal with PTSD; the veteran had waited for a service dog for more than a year. It had been Topp Dogg K-9 Foundation, whose mission it is to provide service animals for disabled veterans, who set Kerrie up with Bruno. Kerrie instantly fell in love with Bruno; the two bonded immediately.

On Sunday evening, Kerrie and her husband had been walking Bruno when dogs had been coming down the same street barking, scaring Bruno. The dog’s leash slipped out of Kerrie’s husband’s hand and fled.

The next day, the family, neighbors and volunteers from Topp Dogg K-0 Foundation searched the area. Bruno’s lifeless body was found near Interstate 285 about three miles from Kerrie’s home.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our beloved service dogs who recently got loose from his handler. This incredible K9 dedicated his life to serving Kerrie Porter, a veteran who relied on him for support with her disabilities.
The organization returned Bruno’s service dog vest to Kerrie.
The organization is asking for your help to honor his memory. Your donations will not only fund his memorial but also help provide Kerrie with a new service dog to continue her healing journey.

Let’s come together to say goodbye to this amazing K9 and ensure his legacy lives on.
