Sweet moment between Dodge County sheriff’s dog and his handler captured on video goes viral

Oh those memories we will never forget, and this time the viral video of a special sendoff was captured by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office in Juneau, Wisconsin.

According to the organization’s Facebook page, after six years on the job as a K-9 officer, Tek was retiring. As is typical of a law enforcement officer retiring, a dispatchers recounts the officer’s achievements through their years of service. And on March 3, Tek and Lt. Taylor Nehls, who was the dog’s handler, marked the special tribute with a heartwarming video as the dispatcher recited information recounting the 314 deployments and helping out with 98 arrests during the dog’s career.

It is, however the emotional interaction in the video between Tek and Lt. Nehls that garnered the special attention:

K9 Tek, formally named “Caro”, was born in the Czech Republic and was selected by Lieutenant Taylor Nehls on June 7, 2017, at Jessiffany Canine Services LLC in Iron Ridge, Wisconsin. K9 Tek was a member of the SWAT team, Drug Task Force, and enjoyed giving numerous presentations to surrounding schools and community events.

Tek will remain with his family.
