In Satellite Beach, Florida, residents spotted a crocodile eating a small dog in the canal and are worried that the reptile is still out there.

According to Fox News, the reptile was sighted in the Lake Shepherd area swimming with a small dog in its mouth. A family who live nearby reported it had been their family dog – a pug who had been grabbed by the crocodile. Families frequently use kayaks and play in the water and are worried about the potential dangers.

It had this dog’s front legs in his mouth, and the dog was just completely limp, so he had clearly already drowned, but it was just a dramatic video.

It is not known how the crocodile even got the dog. Did the dog drown by accident or did the reptile capture it on the ground or near the water’s edge? Since then the Florida Wildlife Commission has sent officers out searching for the dog and the crocodile, and neither has been spotted.

The public is reminded to keep dogs safely on a leash and do not let pets or small children get too close to the water. Make sure they are under adult supervision at all times.

  1. OMG: I am horrified for the family and the victim. Sadly, that victim could have just as easily been a child or small adult…….
