What a life achievement – making it to one’s 100th birthday, and therefore shouldn’t the joyous event be worthy of a grandiose wish? In the Bay Area, lives Robert Moore, who has been a life long dog lover, and so for this very important birthday, he and his daughter Alison, decided on an unusual celebration; albeit one to melt our hearts with love.

Alison posted on Nextdoor asking people to bring their dogs to wish her dad a happy birthday. Honestly, Alison would have been thrilled with 20 or 30 dogs showing up for the big day, but just imagine the combined joy seeing 200 dogs of all ages, all shapes and all sizes arriving to meet Robert?

The dogs waited patiently for their turn to be petted by Moore, and the most adorable canine parade, lined around the block and down the street. Some dogs showed up as part of their regular walks, but other dogs dressed up for the occasion. Some dogs (and of course their human companions) were accompanied by wagons and banners commemorating this special event.

The line stretched around the block! People also brought him flowers, cupcakes, and drawings. They even signed his card (see last pic). Alison said he was very touched and it was a day he’ll never forget. He made sure to pet every single dog. 14/10 for everyone ❤️

Once the celebration went viral on Twitter, many dog lovers joined in and said they wished for the same kind of celebration if they make it to 100 – some want to celebrate birthdays just like this at their current age.

And for the record – Robert Moore didn’t miss petting each and every dog that had been gracious enough to show up for his party.

Wishing you many more birthdays Robert Moore. You are an inspiration to all of us.
