Meet 218-pound baby African elephant Corra. She is the first second-generation baby elephant to be born at Disney Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida.
According to Disney’s blog, written by Scott Terrell, the director of animal and science operations, the adorable baby was bon on December 13. Check out the TikTok video:
It had been Nadirah’s sister, Luna, who had stayed by the new mom’s side during labor and delivery . Corra will soon meet her “grandma, Donna, and other aunt Stella” as per the blog.
In elephant herds, it is not unusual for other female elephants to help raise the babies. The youngsters remain with their mothers until about eight years of age. The baby has been “bringing plenty of joy” to the park’s animal care team. African elephants are “critically endangered.”
