Zoo announces death of elderly wolf, Tala

Late last week, a zoo in Michigan announced the death of one of their gray wolves. On February 10, Potter Park Zoo released news that Tala, age 13, had died from cancer:

Potter Park Zoo is saddened to announce that 13-year-old gray wolf Tala passed away after a reoccurrence of her cancer, which veterinary staff had brought under control in 2020.

According to the release, “every measure” was taken to improve Tala’s condition, but she could not be saved and passed away on February 9. The zoo acknowledged that Tala will be greatly missed writing that she “will be missed dearly by staff and visitors alike.”

Tala resided at the zoo since 2012 and she outlived the average life of a zoo wolf by two years.
