Los Angeles, California – On Thursday night, the body of a 29-year-old man who disappeared while hiking in an urban park was found. Oscar Alejandro Hernandez was reported missing on March 16 after vanishing with his golden retriever, King.

Hernandez was discovered in a hilly, remote area of Griffith Park – his faithul dog, hungry and tired, was still by his side and has been described as “emaciated,” apparently never leaving the side of his owner. The body had to be air-lifted from the area it was found and was transferred to a baseball field where a coroner was waiting. A cause of death for Hernandez has not been released, but foul-play is not suspected.

The man’s relatives were on site to meet King when he was found, reports the Daily Mail.

Hernandez had last been seen near the merry-go-round hiking trails, and his family and search and rescue had been conducting an extensive search of the area.
