Round Rock, Texas – On Sunday, a woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated and her dog, a husky named Landa, died while the police waited for animal control to show up. As reported by WFAA News, Round Rock police officers left Landa inside of the woman’s car, and stated that the car was left running with the air-conditioning on, but the car shut off and nobody noticed.

It was in the high-90s on Sunday and the dog died from heatstroke after the vehicle turned off. The authorities have stated that the incident was “unfortunate.”

“This was an unfortunate incident and we are trying to determine how this happened,”

A reporter with the news agency spoke to the woman’s brother, Benjamin, who described the dog who died:

“He was a very funny dog, a very talkative husky, very playful, curious, friendly. Everybody that encountered him absolutely loved him.”

Benjamin told the news agency that his sister has accepted the responsibility for her part in Landa’s death…putting him in the predicament in the first place. But the family holds the authorities responsible for failing to keep Landa safe.

Benjamin said:

“It just blows my mind that an officer can make the conscious choice to leave an animal in a vehicle in August in Texas. I just don’t understand. And at one o’clock in the afternoon, I’ll never understand.”

  1. “This was an unfortunate incident and we are trying to determine how this happened,” Gee some cops never miss the chance to kill something. Doesn’t matter if it’s a innocent dog or cat or person. And Texas is the worse!!!
