Over 200 dogs removed from ‘nightmare property’ in Tennessee

Over 200 dogs are getting the chance for a new life thanks to a massive rescue effort that saved them from a “nightmare property” in Tennessee. The Guardians of Rescue, who assisted in the rescue effort, writes of the horrific hoarding situation in Grundy County:

It’s hard to mentally process the amount of suffering that occurred here for so long. It is horrific to look all over and see nothing but bones and skeletons. God only knows what these animals suffered through before they lost their lives.

Adding:

So far, over 200 dogs have now been removed from the property, and, sadly, 200 sets of remains have been found. Numerous traps are set for the dogs who have run off in fear and confusion about the activity going on. We and our rescue partners will be there until we’re as sure as we can be that there is no one left behind that we can possibly lure back with food and capture.

On Sunday, the group described the terrible conditions:

The conditions are so bad, our team has had to wear respirators as the putrid air full of mold, feces, urine and god know what else was making them sick. The cold has set in making conditions even more difficult and it’s a constant battle to keep countless of huge rats away from the puppies and our supplies. Poor dogs were everywhere packed in locked cages shivering out in the cold.

Ohio’s All Dogs Come From Heaven also took part in the dog rescue. The rescue organization identifies Margaret Allanson as the person who was responsible for the hoarding situation. The group stated:

This was one of the most horrible cases of hoarding that we have ever encountered….we are glad that the Sheriff contacted us when he became aware of this horrible situation.

Donations to help care for these dogs can be made to the Guardians of Rescue via Facebook, or to All Dogs Come From Heaven via Facebook.

I have seen waaaaaaay too many hoarding cases, but this case is THE WORST. How anyone could live in that trash and bone filled area is beyond my ken…….. the smell must have been horrible…… those poor precious treasures……. suffering and wondering why no one helped them….. I hope the survivors heal quickly and are rehomed ASAP into loving furever families who will treat them as beloved family members…..
