An adorable puppy dubbed Desponia is getting her second chance at life thanks to a good Samaritan and animal shelter in Colorado. According to Denver’s Dumb Friends League, Desponia was discovered two weeks ago, inside of a cage that was left alongside a road – the only thing with her was an empty food dish.
The animal shelter shared how the puppy came to be in their possession, writing:
The compassionate human who rescued her took her to the Dumb Friends League in Denver, where our night kennels are always open for lost and stray pets found after-hours. In the morning, she was given a checkup by our veterinarians, who declared she was perfectly healthy – except for a distinct lack of human companionship!
All is well that ends well for this darling girl – someone already decided to give her a forever home.
The shelter let everyone know that Desponia’s story is not unique:
While Desponia’s story might be emotional, it is not unusual – or unique. It’s up to our compassionate community and our hardworking staff to ensure that pet homelessness and animal suffering come to an end, for good. Remember: ALL pets’ adoption fees are 50% off to remind our community that pets are for everyone! And – if you come this Saturday or Sunday to our Denver location, all dogs and cats are just $50 to adopt!
There are other homeless pets waiting for their second chance as well – you can click here to see the animals currently waiting to be adopted at this shelter.
