Rocket, the once ugly duckling who was passed over again and again

There is no worse feeling in the world than the feeling you are not wanted or that you are the ugly duckling who everyone overlooks. This is how it felt for Rocket, a female American Staffordshire/Dogo Argentino mix.

When Rocket, a Christmas puppy was born in 2016, she was not the cutest puppy and she was also the runt of a litter of ten. Poor Rocket was passed over again and again at adoption events while the more attractive puppies were selected. however, as in the classic story, Rocket has grown into a beautiful dog. She has stunning brindle markings and a perfectly proportioned, athletic body.

Unfortunately, Rocket lost her first opportunity for a home at the last minute when her potential adopter decided to take in a different dog.

Rocket is currently in Oregon, under the care of Animal Coalition Unlimited where she has been since she was born. She is described as intelligent, athletic, high energy and strong willed. This girl loves to run! She also loves car rides, long walks and is crate trained. She is further described as gentle and protective of family members.

Like most dogs, if Rocket does not get enough exercise or is left alone for long periods of time, she will become bored, depressed, and frustrated. She is a very curious girl and very inquisitive about her environment. When she first meets someone, she is calm and reserved while she tries to size them up. Once she gets used to a person, then her true personality comes shining through, and she becomes a rocket. She can run for hours without getting tired.

Sadly, her gymnastic talents have become her own worst enemy. She was adopted for only a short period of time, but her ability to fly over a seven-foot fence scared her adopters.

Animal Coalition Unlimited currently has Rocket, her eight siblings, and their mom PeeDee in their care. They will have to stay in the care of ACU for the duration of their lives due to various personality traits such as dog aggression, reactive to small children and some bite incidents.

Rocket shows off her athletic prowess

Because of this unexpected long-term care for ten dogs, ACU has fallen behind in their payments to the vet/boarding facility. If the payments are not made within 30 days, it is unknown what the fate of these ten dogs will be. Rocket and her siblings deserve to live even if they are deemed un-adoptable.

If you would like to help Rocket stay happy and healthy in the care of Animal Coalition Unlimited, you can pledge, donate, or sponsor Rocket, and any of the other nine dogs through this link  .

Rocket and her siblings are not looking for a fairy tale ending to their story, or a castle to live in. They just wants the opportunity to live out their lives in a safe place with people who know and understand them.
