A planning commissioner in Vallejo, California, has tendered his resignation after throwing a cat during a recent Zoom meeting. According to multiple sources, Planning Commission, Chris Platzer “introduced” his cat to the other Zoom participants, and then threw the cat off screen.

He has since been met with harsh criticism and resigned from his position. Platzer resigned before city council members could vote him out at a city council meeting scheduled for April 28 – the agenda called for Platzer’s “immediate removal.”

NBC News reports that Platzer formally resigned:

As of this afternoon, the City has received a formal resignation from Commissioner Platzer citing his behavior as not ‘…befitting of a planning commissioner,’

Concern has been expressed for the cat tossed in the video – according to sources, the sheriff’s office will conduct an investigation.
