Someone committed a despicable act of cruelty when they abandoned ailing puppies alongside an Ohio freeway. As reported by the Detroit Free Press, on Thursday, truck drivers reported seeing puppies on a ramp at Interstate 275 and Telegraph Road.
The German shepherd mix puppies were rescued by Lucas County Pit Crew, which discovered that they were ill with Parvo, a highly contagious, life-threatening gastrointestinal infection. Shortly after the pups were taken in, the rescue group alerted Facebook followers about the situation:
We need another miracle! Puppies were thrown out on the highway today with parvo. Volunteers were able to get these two out of a ditch and both are being treated at WTAH. Please help us, help them!
According to the news agency, the public has been alerted to watch for additional puppies in the area who may have been abandoned with the ones who were found and rescued. One of the puppies taken by the rescue group is not doing well – the other appears to be stronger. One puppy taken by someone outside of the rescue agency has already passed away.
Anyone with information about whoever is responsible for abandoning the sickly pups is asked to reach out to the Monroe County Animal Shelter at 734-240-3125.
