An abused and injured dog, who may be a victim of dog-fighting, was discarded like unwanted trash in a Louisville trash can on Thanksgiving Day. Fortunately, the abandoned dog was discovered by a good Samaritan and taken to a non-profit rescue agency for care.
Randy Metzger, with The Arrow Fund, tells WDRB News:
She’s skin and bone, she’s emaciated and she has eaten anything she could to try and survive,” Randy Metzger said as he held the shaking dog and pointed out wounds on her body. “There’s definitely some trauma in this girl’s life.”
The non-profit organization alerted Facebook followers to the senior dog’s plight shortly after she was brought in for care, writing:
FOUND IN TRASH CAN, DOG FIGHTING VICTIM, TEETH GROUND TO THE GUMS, PUNCTURE WOUNDS AND LACERATIONS OVER ENTIRE BODY. A Good Samaritan found Victoria severely emaciated and weak. She is currently being evaluated by Dr. Ruth at Blue Pearl.
The 10-year-old dog, dubbed Victoria is finally safely out of harm’s way. For perhaps the first time in her life, she is being loved and cared for. You can make a donation towards Victoria’s care via the non-profit group’s Facebook fundraiser here.
