Last week, a Louisiana man was arrested after authorities discovered dead and starving dogs at his residence. According to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, Kahlil Denzel Thomas was arrested and is facing three counts of animal cruelty for the disturbing situation found at 1906 Bayou Road, Port Barre.

The terrible discovery

On December 6, 2018, St. Landry Parish Detectives assisted St. Landry Parish Animal Control responded to the Port Barre address after receiving a report of a loose horse. At the residence, they discovered eight dog kennels which were holding two dog carcasses and five “extremely malnourished dogs.” An additional kennel with another dog carcass and a horse carcass were located on the property as well.

Thomas admitted to the officials that the animals all belonged to him. The sheriff’s officer wrote:

Thomas was transported to the Criminal Investigation Division for questioning where he admitted to knowing about the three (3) deceased dogs and one deceased horse on the property. Thomas stated the horse and dogs died 2-4 weeks ago, and he has been unable to provide adequate amount of food, water, and shelter for the animals. Thomas was transported to the parish jail and processed.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz stated,

“I would like to thank the person who brought this to the animal shelter’s attention. Working with the witness and the St. Landry Parish Animal Shelter, Thomas was arrested, and the dogs were taken out of that environment.”

So instead of handing these animals over to a shelter or other facility to care for them, this vile monster just lets them die a horrible death of starvation. Don’t give him any food or drink to eat for the time he never fed this animals. RIP poor defenseless animals.
