A California man is accused of a heinous act of cruelty which left the family dog beheaded. According to multiple sources, 31-year-old Christopher Michael Dougherty admitted that he decapitated his family’s three-year-old Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix, named Milo.
The animal cruelty crime
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office recounted details Thursday’s disturbing incident:
When deputies arrived at the Auburn home, they found Dougherty with blood on his clothes and in possession of a bloody knife with what appeared to be white dog hair attached. Deputies could not find Milo, and were told by Dougherty’s family there was a rug missing from their home.
A deputy discovered the missing rug, and Milo’s headless body, in a trash container outside of the Auburn residence. The deputy placed Milo’s body in a box to spare the rest of the family the disturbing sight.
Dougherty was arrested for animal cruelty.
