A California woman’s bad decision resulted in the death of one dog, extreme suffering to another dog and cat, and several felony charges of animal cruelty. According to NBC Los Angeles, 42-year-old Jennifer Arriaga left her pets inside of a parked car in Ontario on Sunday.
By the time that police arrived to break out one of the vehicle’s windows, one of the dogs was dead and the other two pets were in “heavy distress.” According to a press release from the Inland Valley Humane Society, the incident occurred on the 3400 block of Shelby Street in Ontario.
The temperature inside the vehicle was over 113 degrees. It is unknown how long the animals were left to suffer inside the parked vehicle. The deceased dog was taken to the Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA where a necropsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. The surviving dog and cat are being treated by emergency veterinarians.
The surviving cat and dog are still being treated at the animal shelter – donations for their care can be made at this link.
