On Sunday, someone decided to abandoned their puppy, along with a note and some pizza, on a resident’s stoop in East Falls, Philadelphia. The black pup was tied to a step, beside a note of explanation and a bag of pizza.
Facebook user Justin Hanley posted to the East Falls Rant Your A$$ Off Facebook group on October 15:
Need advice/help. Somebody tied up their dog and abandoned her on my front step, with a note (attached) and a bag of pizza. Who handles abandoned/lost dogs? spca?? This is heartbreaking stuff
The note accompanying the pup provided few clues about why she had been left alone:
“Please take me home. I’m a girl named Diamond. We can no longer keep her in our home. Thank you.”
According to Philly.com, Hanley was unable to keep the abandoned pup himself, but his post generated dozens of comments, and ultimately a home for the dog. His updated post read, “UPDATE: glad to report Diamond has found a home. Thanks for all the advice/messages. Faith in humanity restored.”
Residents in the area are encouraged to call the Pennsylvania SPCA’s animal cruelty hotline at 866-601-7722 if they find an abandoned animal.
