Puppy abandoned in airport bathroom

Puppy abandoned in airport bathroom with note about abusive situation

Over the weekend, a tiny puppy was discovered in a bathroom at the McCarren Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to News 3 Las Vegas, somebody left a handwritten note with the tiny Chihuahua which indicated that the abandonment was the result of an abusive relationship.

A portion of the letter, about the pup whose name is “Chewy,” reads:

My owner was in an abusive relationship and couldn’t afford me to get on the flight. She didn’t want to leave me with all her heart but she has NO other option. My ex-boyfriend kicked my dog when we were fighting and he has a big knot on his head.

The final sentence of the letter is heartbreaking:

I love Chewy sooo much – please love and take care of him.”

Chewy was taken to Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue – on July 1, the rescue agency posted a photo of the puppy, along with a request for the image to be shared:

Please share in hopes that his mom sees this that she was brave to leave and that he will have a great life.

The media attention has resulted in a great deal of interest being given to the abandoned puppy – on July 4, the rescue agency commented on Chewy’s “pupularity.”

There has been tremendous interest in little Chewy !!! 💜 we are compiling all the interest forms and will be going through them all. CMDR would like to say Thank you for all the offers of a loving home.

However, there is but 1 Chewy and he can go but to 1 home.

Please consider the hundreds if not thousands of “Chewys” loaded with love that are desperately seeking homes in shelters which are at max capacity, rescues are full! Please consider adopting another wonderful companion in his honor !

They too were a Chewy : they’ve lost their home through no fault of their own. Life is tenuous in a shelter, lonely and the days seem endless in a cage. It’s the 4 th of July. The day the single worst day for shelter animals for lost or surrendered.

Not everyone can have Chewy himself but they sure can save another just like him and gift that furbaby a life !

This brought tears to my eyes. The anguish this woman must have felt having to give up her Chewy. Whoever and wherever you are please take care. Many good people have inquired about adopting Chewy.

She did leave her boyfriend, however, she couldn’t afford to pay for Chewy to aboard the plane

she said her ex boyfriend. which means she was not with him. she left the puppy because the was charging to bring it aboard. but airlines should not have to charge for such small dog. it fits in
        the carry on bag.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA !!!!!!
My wish for Chewy is that he is reunited with this “Momma”/Owner.
The rescue can reach out to her and have them back together !!!!

I feel bad for Chewys owner, but I believe he will find a great home. He is simply an angel. If I didn’t have my 5 Chis, I would take him in a heartbeat. May love fill Chewys heart and soul forever!!!

Chew’s owner did the right thing getting away from that abuser, I’m only sorry she had to leave Chewy behind.

Thank you to Chewy’s owner to have the courage and strength to give him up. I’m sure he will find the loving home he deserves. And for all the potential adopters, as the article says there is only one Chewy and will go to just one home. There are so many wonderful dogs and cats waiting in over crowed shelters for a loving home. Please consider adopting one of these deserving animals. Rescues are the best!! Adopt don’t shop!!!!!

Chewy deserves a safe loving home – I do not understand WHY he was left in an airport bathroom – she did not have enough money to take him – Thank God he was found and rescued – I will never understand the mindset of some people.

No sympathy for the owner, abandoning the dog in a bathroom. Couldn’t afford to get the dog on the flight? That is lame. Then rent a car instead and take the dog with. Dog is lucky to be alive.
