A man who fatally injured an Oklahoma woman’s small dog last Friday has stated that he’s not sorry for doing so. According to KFOR News, Betty Potts, of Muskogee, was walking her dog “Cowgirl” home last week when neighbor, Alan Murphy, pulled out a gun and shot the dog dead.
Potts maintains that her Chihuahua mix was not causing any problems, but Murphy disagrees. The dog shooter claims that not only was the dog trespassing on his property, but she was threatening his kids. He told KFOR that he would shoot his own dogs if they “tried to bite” anybody.
Murphy has lived in his home for approximately two months and he claims that Potts and her dog have repeatedly been warned to stay off of his property – in an interview, Potts stated that she cuts through the property to go to her relative’s house.
Murphy is facing a felony animal cruelty charge for the incident, but he is confident that the charge will be dropped; he stated that he has spoken to the authorities and they assured him that he is well within his rights to protect his livestock and family.
