This is not okay – in now way, shape or form should any living creature be subjected to such horrific neglect. On Thursday, Handme-Down Hounds uploaded several photos to Facebook of a badly neglected dog, with maggot-infested wounds, and a video showing just how bad this dog’s suffering has been.
The rescue group stated:
We need to take a minute to talk about the neglect that is happening in San Antonio, and all over this country’s southern states. THIS, is not ok. It is not ok to fight dogs, it is not ok to leave them for dead with wounds. It is NOT ok to see this dog on the streets and do nothing for weeks.
And words of gratitude to the animal shelter who took the injured dog in:
Thank you Kirby-Bexar Animal Facility for taking in this dog so it could be saved. We weren’t expecting this, but we made it work!
The dog, dubbed “McJagger,” has already undergone surgery and he has a long road to recovery ahead of him. On Friday, the rescue group wrote:
Our buddy needs daily bandage changes to regrow/stretch his skin to compensate for the dead tissue lost to maggots.
