In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a goldendoodle who never does anything wrong according to his family, outdid himself and made headlines for his rather bizarre and expensive behavior. Seven-year-old Cecil ate $4,000 in cash that had been sitting on the kitchen counter last month, and what an experience it was to be in order to get most of the money back.

All right, let’s start from the beginning. According to WtaeNews, Clayton and Carrie Law had withdrawn the money in cash and left it temporarily on the counter. Within a half-hour, Cecil had plucked the money, chewed and swallowed most of it, leaving a few torn pieces on the floor.

At first, the couple panicked and called their vet, but were told to monitor Cecil and, yes it would be a waiting game for the money to show up again; if you get the drift! First, the couple got to work piecing the tiny shreds left behind. The bank reassured them this had not been the only experience they had ever had with a dog chewing up money, and told them as long as the serial numbers on the bills were visible, the bank would take back the chewed money.

Cecil had already thrown up some of the money, but then the waiting game – Cecil and waiting for his bowels to work. One can only imagine the couple’s experience. Carrie told the City Paper she had been washing the “shitty” money even though it smelled awful.

After sifting through the inside and outside of Cecil’s family money laundering – so to speak, they were able to piece together almost all the money except for $450.
