In Venice, Florida, a 15-year-old equestrian died while training at an equestrian facility on Sunday. According to the United States Equestrian Federation, Hannah Serfass had been riding her 12-year-old Holsteiner horse, working on equitation, when the horse mis-stepped and suffered a rotational fall.
According to WwnytvNews, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office stated the horse named Quaxx had leaned forward at one point after awkwardly planting its foot, and tripped going forward, propelling Hannah off onto the ground; the horse landing on top of Serfass resulting in a fatal head injury.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at the Fox Lea Farm Spring Concours I and transported the teen to the hospital. She was later pronounced dead.
We send our sincere condolences to the family, trainer, friends & the whole equestrian community. We are all heartbroken.
