A family in Texas had to call the Tomball Police Department when two bald eagles got into a food fight in their front yard; the trouble was their talons became stuck to each other. It happened on Monday, October 30, and it appeared the birds might need some serious intervention to free them.
According to Tomball police, when officers arrived, the eagles were still stuck together. The “exhausted birds” tried to fly away, but they collapsed back to the ground as their talons remained stuck together.
“De-escalation at its finest! The Tomball Police Department and the Tomball Fire Department were dispatched to a person reporting that two quarreling bald eagles were stuck together in the family’s front yard. Once on scene, Tomball first responders saw the two large eagles clasping each other’s talons fighting over what appeared to be a scrap of food. When first responders approached, the exhausted birds attempted to fly away and then collapsed back to the ground still entwined. Officers contacted the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife who suggested to cover the eagles with a blanket to calm them down. As police and firefighters approached the battling birds with a with a firefighter’s jacket, the raptors unclenched their talons from each other and flew away.”

It is currently eagle nesting season, so look up and be careful. Texas Parks and Wildlife are present year round throughout the state.
All’s well that ends well. No eagles were hurt during their kerfuffle.

You definitely don’t ever want to be on the “business end” of their beaks or talons!!! Give those birds seriously healthy respect!!! We see them regularly in our neighborhood and they are forces to be reckoned with……
